Parasol Community Collaboration
Environment Team Welcomes
You to Our Community

This Website was
funded in part by
a grant from the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation.

On this website, we strive to inform Tahoe Basin residents and visitors about the various issues and environmental pressures facing the Tahoe Basin.

Lake Tahoe and its surrounding basin are a treasured natural resource.  The Lake has been designated an Outstanding National Resource Water by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and at one time, efforts were underway to designate the Basin as a National Park.

The Lake Tahoe Basin is no longer a pristine alpine wilderness.  The past 150 years have seen dramatic human impacts and natural resource pressures.  Thoughtful foresight, cooperative management and public education will be required in order to deal with the continued pressures placed on the Basin's natural resources.

We hope you find this site to be a comprehensive
directory of information about the fragile alpine
environment that we call home.
